MOSCOW: billionaire Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of messaging service Telegram, was arrested this Saturday, August 24 in France. The 39-year-old man was the subject of a warrant.

Recall that the Telegram founder was detained at the French Le Bourget airport on the evening of August 24, and then placed under arrest. The French authorities are going to charge him with a number of crimes.

According to media reports, the main complaint against the founder of the messenger is probably encrypted messages in Telegram. Durov faces up to 20 years in prison.
