Russian Defence Ministry's report on repelling Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempt to invade the territory of the Russian Federation (28 August 2024)

MOSCOW: The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to repel an Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempt to invade the territory of the Russian Federation.

The Sever Group of Forces supported by Army Aviation and artillery thwarted eight attacks launched by enemy's assault detachments towards Borki, Korenevo, Kremyanoye, and Malaya Loknya.

In addition, Russian troops thwarted the enemy's attempts to launch attacks in the direction of Spalnoye, Olgovka, and Russkaya Konopelka. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has lost up to 75 troops killed and wounded, and one tank and eight armoured fighting vehicles have been neutralised. Five Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) servicemen surrendered.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue reconnaissance and search operations in forestry areas to locate and eliminate enemy small sabotage groups attempting to get to the depth of the Russian territory.

Avation and artillery strikes together the troops engaged manpower and hardware of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) 22nd, 61st, and 115th mechanised brigades, 82nd and 92nd airborne assault brigades close to Apanasovka, Borki, Viktorovka, Kruglenkoye, Krasnooktyabrsky, Lyubimovka, Malaya Lokna, Mirny, Novoya Sorochina, Obukhovka, Plekhovo, Sverdlikovo, Sudzha, Snagost, and Yuzhny.

Operational-Tactical Aviation has struck in Sumy region concentration areas of reserve manpower and military hardware of 41st and 54th mechanised brigades, 80th Air Assault Brigade, and 69th Separate Rifle Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 1st Ukrainian National Guard Brigade as well as 101st, 103rd, and 107th territorial defence brigades close to Atinskoye, Belopoloye, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Glukhov, Iskriskovshchina, Masenzovka, Mikhailovskoye, Pervomaiskoye, Pustogorod, Solyaniki, Shalygino, Ugroyedy, and Esman.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) losses amounted to more than 380 troops and 30 units of armoured vehicles, including one tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, and 28 armoured fighting vehicles as well as six artillery guns, three mortars, and nine motor vehicles.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) losses were over 7,000 troops, 74 tanks, 35 infantry fighting vehicles, 62 armoured personnel carriers, 460 armoured fighting vehicles, 210 motor vehicles, 51 artillery guns, 13 multiple-launch rocket system launchers, including four of HIMARS MLRS and one of MLRS, five SAM launchers, 10 electronic warfare stations, two radar counter-battery stations, one air defence radar, five engineering vehicles as well as two counterobstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) units is in progress.
