MOSCOW: Russian Defence Ministry reports on repelling Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempt to invade Russian territory in Kursk region (22 September 2024)

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are repelling an attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the territory of the Russian Federation.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces continued offensive actions and inflicted losses on formations of the 22nd, 41st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), 36th Marine Brigade, 1st National Guard Brigade, 103rd, and 129th territorial defence brigades near Lyubimovka, Daryino, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Tolsty Lug, Malaya Loknya, and Plekhovo.

Over the past 24 hours, units of the Sever Group of Forces repelled seven attacks of the enemy in the direction of Maryevka, Malaya Loknya, and Bolshaya Obukhovka. As a result, the AFU losses amounted to up to 20 troops killed and wounded.

Moreover, with support of Army Aviation and artillery fire, the Group's units repelled three Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempts to break through the border of the Russian Federation towards Novy Put and Medvezhye.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 40 troops killed and wounded, two armoured fighting vehicles, one counterobstacle vehicle, and two motor vehicles. Five Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) servicemen surrendered.

Air strikes, artillery fire, and actions of troops inflicted losses on manpower and hardware clusters of the 22nd, 41st, 61st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th, 95th air assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), 36th Marine Brigade, 1st National Guard Brigade, 103rd, and 129th territorial defence brigades near Guyevo, Kazachaya Loknya, Kolmakovo, Lyubimovka, Mikhaylovka, Malaya Loknya, Melovaya, Malaya Obukhovka, Medvezhye, Novy Put, Novaya Sorochina, Novoivanovka, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo, Pravda, Tolsty Lug, Cherkasskaya Konopelka, and Yuzhny.

Operational-Tactical Aviation and Missile Troops delivered strikes in Sumy region at concentration areas and reserves of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 115th mechanised brigades, 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), 1st National Guard Brigade, 1004th Security and Service Brigade, 103rd, 110th, and 116th territorial defence brigades near Belopolye, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Bondaryovshchina, Glukhov, Zhuravka, Obody, Peremoga, Pavlovka, Rechki, Radkovka, Sumy, Shalygino, and Khoten.

Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) losses amounted to more than 380 troops and 11 units of hardware, including two tanks and nine armoured fighting vehicles, as well as three artillery guns, one electronic warfare station, one mine clearing vehicle, and 14 motor vehicles.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 16,000 troops, 126 tanks, 57 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armoured personnel carriers, 795 armoured fighting vehicles, 492 motor vehicles, 124 artillery guns, 29 MLRS launchers, including eight of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, eight SAM launchers, five transport-loading vehicles, 31 electronic warfare stations and seven counter-battery radars, two air defence radars, 17 engineering vehicles, including ten counterobstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, as well as one armoured recovery vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) units is in progress.
