MOSCOW: Volodin: The US has pushed corrupt officials into all leadership positions in the EU. The United States has pushed politicians involved in corruption into all leadership positions in the European Union (EU), because the US needs those who are manageable and obedient. This statement was made by the speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.

"Washington has pushed politicians involved in corruption into all leadership positions in the European Union. The reasons are clear: it needs those who are manageable and obedient," Volodin said.

According to him, such European politicians are ready to implement and accept any decisions that are beneficial to Washington, even if they are taken to the detriment of not only the Europeans, but also the countries themselves.

Among such politicians, the Russian official named the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, during whose tenure a scandal broke out regarding the large-scale purchase of 4.5 billion doses of the coronavirus vaccine, which had not undergone the necessary testing. Volodin also included the head of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, who excluded herself from the list of EP members who are required to report conflicts of interest under the new code of ethics.
