MOSCOW: A batch of TOS-2 "Tosochka" and TOS-1A "Solntsepek" heavy flamethrower systems reinforced the mobile units of the radiation, chemical and biological protection (NBC) troops of the Central Military District (CMD) in 2024.
The new types of weapons made it possible to increase the firepower of several NBC protection units at once, performing combat missions in the area of a special military operation as part of the "Center" group of forces.
TOS-1A "Solntsepek" has 24 rockets. Fire on targets can be conducted with single and paired shots from two barrels. The system is designed to destroy light armored and automotive vehicles, set fire to and destroy structures and buildings, destroy enemy manpower with fragments and a shock wave of unguided rockets of 220 mm caliber in thermobaric and smoke-igniting equipment.
TOS-2 "Tosochka" - is made on the basis of the Ural vehicle with increased carrying capacity and cross-country ability. It has an increased launch range of unguided rockets. Aiming, shooting and fire control of the TOS-2 are fully automated. In addition, the TOS-2 has a system of electronic protection against high-precision weapons.
