WASHINGTON: Donald Trump Jr. has arrived in Greenland amid his father’s interest in acquiring the island.

“Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!” President-elect Trump said in a Truth Social post, which featured video of his plane touching down while surrounded by frosty terrain.

“Greenland coming in hot… well, actually, really really cold!!!!” Trump Jr. said in a post on the social platform X that featured video of the cockpit of an airplane flying over frozen topography.

“Greenland is beautiful!!!” he added in a separate post.

A source had earlier confirmed Trump Jr.’s plans to visit Greenland “for a quick daylong trip to shoot some fun video content for podcasting.”

Late last month, the president-elect said on social media that owning Greenland was “an absolute necessity.”

“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” he said in a statement announcing Ken Howery as his nominee to serve as ambassador to Denmark.

A day after the president-elect’s post, the prime minister of the island, which is a part of Denmark, said it wasn’t for sale.

“Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom,” Múte Egede said in a statement, according to reports from BBC and The Guardian.

The elder Trump has also recently taken aim at the Panama Canal and Canada as places that could possibly be included as part of the U.S.
