MOSCOW: Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko took part in the ceremony of handing over the mobile laboratory of indication and monitoring to the joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center (Tropical Center) in Hanoi as part of the official visit of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to the country.
At it, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in June 2024, as part of the state visit of President Vladimir Putin, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Rospotrebnadzor and the Tropical Center.
“Rospotrebnadzor, under the leadership of Anna Yuryevna Popova, and the Tropical Center have conducted more than 60 joint scientific expeditions. This is already the second such laboratory handed over by the Russian side to our Vietnamese colleagues,” Dmitry Chernyshenko noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the laboratory was developed by Rospotrebnadzor for rapid response to outbreaks of particularly dangerous infections. Its capacity allows for up to 800 studies per day. This highly cross-country mobile complex can operate even in hard-to-reach places.
Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam Colonel General Hoang Xuan Tien and Co-Director of the Vietnamese part of the Tropical Center Dang Hong Chien expressed gratitude to the Russian side and noted the importance of cooperation between our countries.
Vietnam is a strategic partner of Russia in Southeast Asia, including in the field of science and sanitary and epidemiological well-being.
Such a laboratory will allow studying particularly dangerous infections in remote areas of Vietnam and will increase the potential for responding to biothreats in the Southeast Asian region as a whole.
