MOSCOW: "During the past night, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 104 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the statement said.
Most of the drones were shot down over the Kursk and Bryansk regions. The authorities of the Tver region reported 20 destroyed UAVs, and the Smolensk region reported an attempt by a drone to attack a nuclear power facility.
It is emphasized that UAVs were destroyed in nine regions:
In the Kursk region - 47 drones;
In the Bryansk region - 27;
In the Smolensk region - 11;
In the Tver region - seven;
In the Belgorod region - four;
In the Nizhny Novgorod and Kaluga regions - three each;
In the Rostov and Leningrad regions - one each.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are attempting to attack targets in the border and central regions of Russia with drones almost every day. Air defense forces are successfully intercepting enemy aircraft.
Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that 33 aircraft-type drones, including three jet drones, were shot down in the region overnight. According to him, no one was hurt.
Tver Region Governor Igor Rudenya said at about 2 a.m. that 20 drones had been destroyed at that time. Smolensk authorities reported a massive drone attack; according to Governor Vasily Anokhin, one of them was shot down "during an attempt to attack a nuclear power facility."
In the Leningrad Region, a UAV was suppressed over Lake Ladoga. Flights were suspended for almost two hours at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.
