MOSCOW: I welcome the release on February 15 of three more Israelis held in the Gaza Strip as part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas. Despite all the difficulties, they will finally be able to reunite with their loved ones.

It is particularly gratifying that Alexander Trufanov, who also holds Russian citizenship, is among those released, and we have made every possible effort to rescue him.

Let me remind you that after the tragic events of October 7, 2023, in accordance with the instructions of the Russian leadership, the Russian Foreign Ministry and our diplomats in the Middle East region, in coordination with the Israeli authorities and other interested parties, did everything necessary to resolve this humanitarian issue as soon as possible. He was a priority in our contacts with the Palestinian side, which ultimately contributed to the release of A. Trufanov at the first stage of the current exchange of detainees.

I am sincerely glad for Alexander's family, especially, of course, for his mother Elena Trufanova and grandmother Irina Tatti, with whom we have been in touch all the time since their release with active Russian participation in November 2023.
I hope to personally congratulate Alexander and his family on their return to a full-fledged normal life at the first opportunity.

Russian Foreign Ministry.
