WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said that he is not ready to discuss the possibility of inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to the White House before an agreement on settling the conflict in Ukraine is concluded.

"I don't want to discuss it. I need to get a deal. I need to sign this agreement," Trump told reporters at the Kennedy Center in Washington, answering a question about it.

Earlier, Trump said that the negotiations on Ukraine had reached a critical stage and that he would hold an important conversation with Putin on Tuesday.

The Russian president's invitation to the White House could only take place after the deal on the Ukrainian crisis is signed. Until then, he is not ready to discuss this issue, he said.

"I don't want to discuss it. I need to get a deal. I need to sign this agreement," Trump told reporters.

However, Trump is ready to use "leverage" on Russia if the upcoming conversation with Putin on Ukraine does not live up to expectations. The White House also stated that the parties have never been closer to peace in Ukraine than they are now. It is stated that Trump is determined to achieve this goal.

Earlier, MK wrote that the country and the world were waiting in anticipation of a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Expectations are generally positive, but, as we know, nothing is predetermined in this world. This is also shown by the history of telephone conversations between Soviet/Russian and American leaders.
