MOSCOW: The head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov commented on the likelihood of mobilization due to the situation with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk Oblast.

In a conversation with the SHOT Telegram channel, he said that the Russian army has enough military personnel to carry out the assigned tasks.

“There is no need to carry out mobilization in Russia due to the situation in Kursk Oblast,” Kartapolov said.

A member of the State Duma Defense Committee Viktor Zavarzin also answered the question of whether mobilization would be carried out in Russia due to the breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk Oblast.

Russia has enough military personnel at the front, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov told the SHOT Telegram channel. According to him, there is no need to carry out mobilization due to the ongoing fighting in Kursk Oblast.

The fighting in the region has been going on since August 6, a federal state of emergency and a counter-terrorist operation regime have been declared there. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as of the evening of August 10, 76 thousand people were evacuated from the border regions. Over the past night, three missiles were shot down over the Kursk region, and 11 UAVs were destroyed, no one was hurt.

Messages have appeared on social networks that a new wave of partial mobilization may allegedly be declared in the Russian Federation against the backdrop of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion of the Kursk region.

Earlier, Gustav Gressel, an expert at the European Council on Foreign Relations, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region would have catastrophic consequences for the country. It is possible that as a result of the failures, international support for Kyiv may decrease.
