Orban: the pro-Ukrainian position does not meet the interests of Europe

BUDAPEST: "My criticisms of European policy relate to the fact that instead of following European interests, we identify our position with the position of Ukraine, and this draws us deeper into the conflict. This is not good for Europe, on the contrary, it is very harmful."

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an interview with the Corrierre della Sera newspaper, said that Europe, to the detriment of its own interests, identifies its position with that of Ukraine.

"My criticisms of European policy relate to the fact that instead of following European interests, we identify our position with the position of Ukraine, and this draws us deeper and deeper into the conflict. This is not good for Europe, but on the contrary, it is very unprofitable," he said.

Orban stressed that it is in Europe's interests to stop the conflict, but instead it has become one of its sides.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an article for the Magyar Nemzet newspaper, said that Europe is increasingly drawn into the conflict in Ukraine, in which it can easily lose everything it has.

"The Brussels bureaucracy, living in a bubble, has made several erroneous political decisions over the years. Europe is getting more and more involved in a war in which the continent can't win anything, but it can easily lose everything. However, daily experience shows that there is nothing too expensive for them on the issue of war," he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Orban pointed out that "the Brussels bureaucrats want this war, consider it their own and want to defeat Russia," and therefore European taxpayers' money is "constantly being sent to Ukraine, European companies are suffering from sanctions, inflation has increased, and millions of European citizens are in a difficult situation."
