MOSCOW: The Russian President noted that relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK are at a high level
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his people on the 76th anniversary of the republic's formation. The corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin's website.
"Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," the document says.
The Russian leader stressed that relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK are at a high level, which is confirmed by the recent talks in Pyongyang. Putin also expressed confidence in further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two states.
"This undoubtedly meets the fundamental interests of our peoples and is in line with ensuring security and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the Northeast Asia region as a whole," the Russian president stressed.
"I am certain that, with joint efforts, we will continue to gradually strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea," Putin noted. "This, undoubtedly, meets the core interests of our peoples and is in line with the course on ensuring security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the Northeastern Asian region in general," he added.
Earlier, Putin congratulated Kim Jong-un on the Day of the Liberation of the DPRK. According to the Russian leader, it was in the battles for the liberation of Korea that the traditions of friendship and cooperation were laid, which became the basis for relations between Russia and the DPRK. The President expressed confidence in the development of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, wishing Kim Jong-un good health and success.
