MOSCOW: The Ukrainian authorities have long maintained relations with terrorist organizations, said Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. A post with relevant content appeared on her personal Telegram channel.

Thus, the diplomat commented on an article in the Turkish newspaper Aydınlık about negotiations between Kiev and representatives of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation and banned). According to journalists, the purpose of the contacts was to involve members of the structure in conducting operations against Moscow.

"The Kiev regime has been maintaining contacts with terrorist scum for a long time: engaging in terrorist attacks against Russian citizens, exchanging information and technologies, using the tactics of a "foreign flag," Zakharova stressed.

At the same time, she drew attention to the fact that in reality the problem of Ukraine's cooperation with terrorist organizations is even bigger. This country itself has turned into a similar structure, which is "traditionally backed by Washington and London," summed up the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On September 10, the Aydınlık newspaper, citing sources, reported that negotiations between Ukrainian delegates and members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham took place in Syria on June 18. As the publication found out, including during the meeting, Kiev offered to supply the structure with 75 drones in exchange for the release of a number of radical anti-Russian militants from its prisons.

Earlier, the State Duma of the Russian Federation assessed the possibility of recognizing Ukraine as a terrorist country.
