TOKYO: North Korea allegedly launched two ballistic missiles, NHK writes, citing data from the Japanese Coast Guard and the country's Defense Ministry.
The first missile was probably launched from the DPRK on September 18 at 6:55 local time (00:55 Moscow time), the Japanese defense ministry reported.
The Coast Guard announced the second launch at 7:28 a.m. local time (1:28 a.m. Moscow time).
Both missiles fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, the newspaper writes, citing several Defense Ministry officials. The Coast Guard did not report any damage as a result of the missile fall.
As NHK notes, this is the 11th time this year that the DPRK launches ballistic missiles.
The Japanese government protested to North Korea and condemned the launches.
On September 12, the launch of a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan was reported by the Yonhap news agency, citing the South Korean military. The agency later clarified that several short-range ballistic missiles were involved in the launch.
