KAZAN: Over the past 75 years, Russian-Chinese relations have become a model of interaction between states in the modern world, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.
"Over the past 75 years, Russian-Chinese relations have reached the level of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. We can say with full confidence that they have become a model of how relations between states should be built in the modern world," Putin said.
According to him, cooperation between Russia and China is equal, mutually beneficial and absolutely non-opportunistic.
Putin noted successful Russian-Chinese projects in transport, energy, and agriculture.
During the Russian-Chinese talks, Putin said that relations between Russia and China are an example of how relations between countries should be built, cooperation is equal and non—opportunistic
Earlier, the official representative of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Liu Pengyu, said that relations between Russia and China contribute to peace and stability.
Russia and China, despite the negative external impact, continue to increase trade, the Russian leader said.
Xi Jinping said that over the past 10 years, Russian-Chinese relations have withstood unprecedented tests, their inviolability cannot be shaken by serious upheavals in the international arena today.
In early October, Russia and China celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
He also noted that such cooperation is of an equal and mutually beneficial nature.
Earlier, Putin said that in the first half of 2024, the trade turnover between Russia and China increased by 4.5%. According to him, the trade turnover between the two countries continues to grow despite unfavorable external conditions.
The BRICS Summit is taking place in Kazan on October 22-24. According to Putin, 30 countries are already ready to join the association in order to cooperate to one degree or another.
